Railway Ball 'Greatest Show On Earth' at Grosvenor House, London
Charity Gala Dinner
Client: CL Events
Over 1000 VIP guests packed into London's Grosvenor House to experience DesignScene's 'Greatest Show On Earth' a high energy night of entertainment and fun hosted by comedian Andy Collins and based a circus style 'Cirque du Celebrité' competition concept.
This was for the Railway Ball, the railway industry's annual fundraising extravaganza,
DesignScene conceived the idea, created the event, identity, design and graphics, and supplied the full technical production, including staging, sound, lighting and video to really make it rock.
The Grosvenor's Great Room was dressed to recreate a circus big top, with ceiling drapes tied to trusses flown in the middle of the room and dramatically swagged back to the surrounding balcony handrails.
The stage, positioned on the long wall of the Great Room, featured live music from the All Stars Collective, while most of the speeches and all the circus action all took place on the dancefloor/circus ring in the middle of the room.
The evening featured 4 main performance sections alternating with the four dinner courses, an ongoing silent auction and a live auction, plus charity VTs and the after-party.
DesignScene brought Bristol-based Cirque Bijou onboard to provide circus performers for the night, and to work with West End director/choreographer Gary Lloyd, who they commissioned to create themed dance sequences for each part of the show, fusing the talents of his own dancers and the circus performers.
