YouTube at MIPCOM, Cannes
DesignScene was commissioned to create a concept design for the YouTube stand at the MIPCOM exhibition in Cannes, complete with meeting rooms, demo pods, a reception area and store room.
The exhibition attracts the leading players from the entertainment content marketplace, from major studios and independent producers to leading international distributors, broadcasters, thematic channels and digital platforms; so the booth really had to be highly visible.
DesignScene's creative director Attila Keskin created an eye-catching design to fill the odd shaped 9 x 4 metre space, based on a fusion of the distinctive YouTube logo, and resembling a set of slightly retro, quirky TV sets. It was a case of simplicity and 'less is more' bringing a strong brand identity to the booth.
The main meeting areas comprised three 4-seater demo pods, each with an integral internet and IT system with a mini Mac server linked to a 27 inch Apple LED Cinema screen. Each pod also had its own JBL sound system.
The reception desk matched the style of the pods - finished in high gloss white exterior material with a red frame in the YouTube colours. The whole set was designed and constructed to be robust, adaptable and re-usable for other exhibitions.
MIPCOM proved a massive success for YouTube, with over 95 meetings held on the booth during the 4 day exhibition, and the stand attracting plenty of attention.
The stand components were also used at MIDEM - also in Cannes - but rearranged to suit a different stand shape.
